2026 Chevy Tahoe Engines & Performance

Upping the output, the larger 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 leads the lineup with 420 horsepower while still offering identical two-wheel drive (2WD) fuel economy ratings to the 5.3L V8. A boost in performance is exclusive to the 6.2L V8 engine with the RST Performance Edition Package. This optional upgrade elevates output to 433 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque, and adds Brembo® front brakes, Firestone® Firehawk™ Pursuit tires, and a cat-back performance exhaust system. For maximum Tahoe torque, fuel economy, and driving range, pick the Duramax® 3.0L turbo diesel inline six-cylinder (I6) engine.

All three Tahoe engines are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission, delivering smooth shifts designed to handle their robust outputs. Depending on the trim level, you can get any Tahoe engine with either 2WD or four-wheel drive (4WD); the Z71 trim supports its all-terrain design using a two-speed Autotrac® transfer case with shift-on-the-fly capability, while other Tahoe 4WD models come with a single-speed transfer case. For enhanced ride quality, the Tahoe offers Magnetic Ride Control™ to automatically smooth vertical suspension movement.
